Amill Brings Home Pair of Weekly League Awards

Senior named the Offensive and Special Teams Player of the Week

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – Senior co-captain CJ Amill of the Lafayette football team was selected as the Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week and Special Teams Player of the Week, the conference office announced on Monday afternoon.

Amill was all over the field for the Maroon and White on Saturday en route to the team's first victory of the 2018 campaign, a 31-24 win over Central Connecticut State at Fisher Stadium. A go-ahead 23-yard score by the senior with less than a minute to play decided the outcome in a tightly-contested game throughout.

A native of Youngstown, Ohio, Amill scored three times on Saturday, adding a 57-yard punt return and an 11-yard run to his game-winning touchdown to post 18 of the team's 31 points. Amill carried the ball eight times for 34 yards and added three receptions for 25 yards in the contest.

For the 2018 season, Amill leads Lafayette in rushing with 26 carries for 97 yards and two touchdowns. Additionally, he's averaging 15.25 yards over four punt returns and 20.67 yards over three kickoff returns.

Amill and the Leopards have the weekend off before returning to Fisher Stadium for homecoming on Saturday, Oct. 13 against Georgetown at 3:30 p.m.
