15 Lafayette Teams Post Perfect Multi-Year APR Scores

May 27, 2015

EASTON, Pa. -- Lafayette posted 15 teams with perfect Academic Progress Rates, according to data from an NCAA press release on Wednesday. Another six teams came in with an APR mark above the national average.

The Leopards' baseball, men's and women's cross country, men's and women's swimming and diving, men's and women's indoor and outdoor track and field, softball, women's basketball, women's lacrosse, women's soccer, women's tennis and volleyball all posted a perfect 1,000. Six more squads recorded an APR at or above the national average of 978 including field hockey (995), men's basketball (995), men's soccer (994), men's golf (993), men's tennis (986) and football (978).

This is the second straight week Lafayette's student-athletes have been highlighted in the classroom. Eighteen teams and 78 percent of Lafayette's 23 Division I sports earned NCAA Public Recognition Awards, the third highest percentage of all NCAA Division I schools topping the Academic Progress Rate (APR), the NCAA announced May 20.

Every Division I sports team calculates its APR each academic year. Scholarship student-athletes each semester receive one point for remaining eligible and one point for staying in school or graduating. Teams scoring below certain thresholds can face consequences, including practice restrictions and playing season reductions. Rates are an average of the past four years' performance. The most recent APR scores are multi-year rates based on the scores from the 2010-11, 2011-12, 2012-13 and 2013-14 academic years. National aggregates are based on all teams with usable data at the time of analysis.
